Welcome on the website of Hungarian Institute for Forensic Sciences!

The highly trained staff of our Institute provides scientific analysis and expert evidences to the police and to the administration of Justice since 1961. The Institute is a member of ENFSI (European Network of Forensic Science Institutes).

The accreditation of most routine examinations to ISO 17025 is in progress at the present time.

The HIFS supported by Ministry of Interior and it is not available for private citizens. All samples examined must be submitted by law enforcement agencies or courts.

Drug Working Group

The Drug and Arson Investigation Department was requested by the steering comittee of the ENFSI DWG for organizing the proficiency tests in period 2010-2012.

The roles are preparing and sending drug samples four times pro year for the European laboratories. By gathering and evaluating the analytical data, the results will be interpret at the DWG's Annual Meetings. In 2009 67 European laboratories executed the proficiency tests and the Hungarian Central Drug Laboratory took the 4th place in point of the accuracy.
